Building Castles in the Air
Although I came up with the idea behind Give 30 many years before it was first launched, it took a while to implement. In fact, it would not have happened without the encouragement, advice, ideas, and goading from a group of dedicated family and friends. Mostly, the delay can be attributed to a combination of procrastination and fear that the idea was pie in the sky. Yes, fear of failure delayed this initiative for a while. However, as Henry David Thoreau advises: "If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them."
So, here I am, building the foundations under my castle. But, I can't do it alone. I need you to build that foundation with me - brick by brick.
While we are fortunate to live in prosperous and wealthy societies, hunger and poverty still poses a challenge for some of our neighbours. I find that stark juxtaposition troubling and unacceptable. Canada and the United States are amazing countries that offer many of us great opportunities and gifts, but with those gifts and opportunities come responsibilities as well. Each of us can affect change and make a difference in the lives of others, and that can begin right now. Make a donation to the Give 30 Campaign Partner Organization of your choice today and get the word out to your networks encouraging them to do their part too.
